One of the very earliest flowering daffodils of the year is a perfect reflection of both winter’s cold beauty and spring’s green energy. Narcissus 'Polar Hunter's ice-cool whites infused with green seem to shine out in the late winter light, making this an unusual and interesting choice. Its chartreuse buds open up to reveal white petals with a fading patina of winter green, with deeper hints of chartreuse in its gently ruffled corona: a glow of the Polar Northern Lights encapsulated in this diminutive beauty of a bloom.

The unique colours of Narcissus 'Polar Hunter' are a reflection of its parentage, which includes the rare green daffodil, Narcisuss viridiflorus, that grows wild in the Cadiz region of Spain and in North Africa.  

Emerging in late winter to very early spring, this small daffodil, about 30cm in height, brings a charming note to pots displayed on a table, or to a prominent planting place near a path or back door. For an original touch of winter interest, Narcissus 'Polar Hunter' could be combined with late winter flowering snowdrops and variegated white and green ivy. It is also an excellent option for forcing indoors, producing multiple fragrant blooms per stem that rise up to nod over attractive, narrow, reed-like foliage.
