With eye-catching variegated strappy foliage which is evergreen, so lasts all year round, it’ll catch the flickering light of dappled shade to bring colour, texture and a little movement to a what could otherwise be a dull, bare space. Not only do the leaves bring lushness and year-round greenery to the area, but in autumn Liriope 'Silvery Sunproof' will treat you to a show of beautiful purple flower spikes too. Also known as lilyturf, this shimmering grassy character is a woodland beauty, but will thrive in both shady and sunny locations. This hardy, low-maintenance perennial will grow to approximately 30cm when mature, and it gradually spreads into tufty clumps to help fill the space it’s given. Although Liriope 'Silvery Sunproof' can handle tricky conditions, when you receive your bare root it is best to give it an easy start in a temporary pot with compost first of all. Grow it on for a few months and then plant it out when it’s formed a strong root ball. Set it off to absolute perfection alongside other shade lovers like hostas, ferns and astilbe.
