Dahlias are more popular now than 20 years ago, which means that breeders are spending more time perfecting blooms for us to grow in our gardens. Enter Dahlia 'Viking'—it's the most perfect, pompom variety with deep red, double, ball-shaped flowers. They are sure to add new shape and texture dimensions, as well as luxuriant, rich colour to any garden.

Between June and September, each flowerhead comprises layers of silky, inwardly curved petals, to create a perfectly formed ball. The sturdy stems, around 90cm high, not only give excellent support, but they also provide Dahlia 'Viking' with its iconic and uplifting bobbing habit in the breeze.

Suitable for a bed, border or large patio container, Dahlia 'Viking' is easy-to-grow: just give it well-drained soil, ideally with some manure or compost for its roots to get into, and a sunny position. Oh, and we almost forgot, it will make a fabulous cut flower, too!
