Dahlia 'Jowey Winnie'
A popular cultivar, and with very good reason, Dahlia 'Jowey Winnie' is classed as a ball dahlia (essentially, a larger version of the pompom type) and offers a highly attractive blend of dusky pink and warm apricot. The overall effect is a sultry, vintage look, which makes these medium-sized flowers (10-12cm across) particularly easy to place amongst other, stronger colours. We love seeing Dahlia 'Jowey Winnie combined with the smoky purple of Dahlia ‘Thomas A. Edison’ and the peachy orange of Dahlia 'Bishop of Oxford', along with the bright, fiery tones of Kniphofia 'Alcazar' and Crocosmia 'Fire King'. Mid to late summer never looked so good!
The blooms of Dahlia 'Jowey Winnie' make excellent cut flowers due to their straight, sturdy stems and an impressive vase life of up to a week. Picking first thing in the morning or later in the evening (when moisture levels are high) will help them last as long as possible.
