Crocus 'Panda'

Noone can resist a panda, with their charming black and white coats, and this botanical version of the adorable bear is just as lovely! Crocus 'Panda' packs a fabulous colour punch very early in the year, guaranteed to raise the spirits even as the first blooms emerge in late winter and early spring. This variety features petals of pure white with bold aubergine-purple blotches on the outer petals. They open up in the sunshine to reveal gleaming white centres, yellow anthers and a vivid orange stigma. Overall, Crocus chrysanthus 'Panda' makes a fabulous colour contrast.

Crocus 'Panda' is one of the very earliest crocus to flower, belonging to the Chrysanthus group, also known as the snow crocus for their exceptionally early flowering (they’ve been known to pop out from drifts of snow!). This type also spreads more prolifically than other groups, so if you’re looking for a crocus to naturalise in lawns, under trees or among shrubs, this is an excellent choice. Crocus chrysanthus 'Panda' is also perfect in pots, and though diminutive in size, it produces multiple flowers per bulb, so there’s no chance it’ll go unnoticed!
