Arisaema speciosum is one of those plants that seems to have slithered straight out of a Victorian explorer’s sketchbook—exotic, mysterious and just a touch theatrical. Commonly known as the showy cobra lily, it rises from the soil with an elegant poise, displaying a solitary, three-part leaf that frames its true spectacle: a striking purple spathe hooded over a pale, white-tipped spadix, like a cobra about to strike.
