Aquilegia 'White Barlow'

Aquilegia 'White Barlow' is a real eye-opener! An upright perennial, some 75-90cm tall, it produces greyish green divided leaves from mid-spring to autumn. But it’s the flowers that make this plant a talking point. They are white, double, spur-less, pompon-like and very distinctive, appearing in early spring and summer. They nod gracefully at the ends of stiff, upright stems. They are the perfect companion to Aquilegias 'Ruby Port' and 'Blue Barlow'—and together these plants will give a great red-white-and-blue look to any border.

Aquilegia vulgaris var. stellata 'White Barlow' is absolutely most at home in a cottage garden, but it also looks great in both modern gardens or woodland settings, where its white flowers stand out in darker areas.

Despite their delicate appearance, Aquilegias are tough border plants, and very easy to grow. They seem to be left alone by pests such as slugs and rabbits, and in the UK climate they are as hardy as they come. Oh, and they make wonderful cut-flowers, too!
